Top 5 trends too look out for in the Spring/Summer 2018 season

With spring just around the corner, I'd like to dedicate a post to five trends that I think will be huge in S/S 18 according to what I saw in the fashion weeks of that representative season. So without further a do lets get right into it.

1. Anti-Modern

Gucci was big last year, and it will remain big this year, you might be wondering why I am mentioning Gucci specifically in this, that would be due to the fact that it was initiated by Gucci. the Anti-Modern trend is starting spread seemingly every aspect of fashion, from Moschino with a more gothic approach, the music choice of most fashion shows, down to the niche meme accounts.   This look can be approached in many ways and is versatile meaning there is a little something in there for everyone. One thing is for sure, 80s fashion is back baby, so pull out the old JC Penney magazines your mother kept from her youth.

2. Bold Prints

Great news to anyone who missed the Leo print: it's back! Bold Prints were quite something this season. Florals on bright backgrounds, animal prints, shining gold and glitz. Caution with this however, as bold prints, especially animal ones, can look tacky and cheap, very fast.

3. Business casual

While different from the previously mentioned trends, there was no shortage of very urban business looks. They were equipped with surprisingly dark muted greens and greys and paired with a soft pastel colour like lavender, pink or mint green. To recreate a look like this I would recommend high waisted grey check-print pants, a matching coat, a pastel high neck blouse, a black beret and booties, E voila and you're good to go.

4. Glitter

It was huge, literally. Big sequins, and chunky jewellery were a very present and dominant presence. This season will definitely not leave your extra needs unsatisfied.

5. Headwear

One thing you shouldn't neglect this season, is the headwear. It might be a small detail, but it does elevate any outfit. The reason I am repeatedly using the word headwear instead of hat is because I saw more silk scarves and elaborate hair clips rather than actual hats.

Milan FW F/W 17/18 : All about the details.

The amount of hours spend on creating a perfect dress, the right hairdo and expressive make up often go unnoticed. Fashion is not just clothing, it is a form of art and the runaway is the exhibit. Therefore we will be focusing on all the detailing, that make the Fashion Week what it is, on this weeks post.

Grinko

Can you see the way the clothes are layered, and loosely hang on the model enabling a display of the entire outfit. It makes an outfit look more légère, without loosing the chic flair.

Alberta Ferretti

The Alberta Ferretti Fashion Show had me amazed, with the elegance and beauty it displayed. The small detailing on the capes and dresses had a huge impact, making the clothes look they they belong to goddesses not mortals. The occasional mask added a masquerade feel, which is always a good thing.

Gucci

Gucci displayed enough detail work and care to each piece to last a lifetime. Alessandro Michele is a genius in making pieces that are memorable and beautiful. I would also like to add that I loved the 'through the times' theme that was present at the show.

Especially this blue gown and cape stuck with me, the precise details and choice of colours played so well together.

Luisa Beccaria

Luisa Beccaria is known for fairytale like creations, this season being no exception. The floral headpieces made the models look like forrest nymphs. The dreamy dresses with small floral detailing only adding to the magical feeling.

Versace

The strong and bold eyeliner was definitely a statement. But what made a bigger impact were the caps with words like 'unity', 'courage' and 'power', the show felt empowering, perhaps it is Dotnatellas final message to us, as this is, unfortunately, rumored too be her last show.

Aquilano Rimondi

Slicked back hair, a dark lip and otherwise blank face is an iconic timeless look, that makes anyone feel like they are a young millionaire on their way to break countless hearts. It is an underestimated look, that adds glamour and fierceness to any outfit.

Bottega Veneta

If I had two words to describe the atmosphere at the Bottega Veneta Fashion Show it would be Femme Fatale. I think the vibe can be attributed to the hairstyle most of the models had.

Prada

The colourful designs and all the detail work were truly delightful. A personal favourite was this blue jacket, even though I usually stray away from colorful attire I could see myself wearing this. Well if it wasn't for the small factors that I can't afford it, not in this nor my next live, and that it is presumably real leather.

I wouldn't dare include Prada F/W 17/18 on my post and disregard my favourite model in history Lindsey Wixson, she definitely stole the show in the simple red dress, proving that less can be more.

MSGM

The colourful  headscarves the models wore in the MSGM show added an unbelievable charm, and folklore appeal. It feels like you are taking a trip through historic European cities. I genuinely love the mixture of modern and old.

Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini was great, however this dress in particular had me in awe, I love the sleeves and the collar, the was they are layered and have small sewn in dots on them, giving off a victorian touch. The leather made it feel modern , and as I mentioned in the MSGM paragraph above, I simply love this type of combo.

This is all I have for you this week. The Milan FW was amazing and I am very excited about the Paris FW, as it is usually known to be my favourite, I might make a longer post this coming week as a little wrap up. as always I am very grateful for reviews and feedback. Thank you for reading, and hopefully, until next time!

London FW F/W 17/18 : Highlights

I felt that it would be rather boring if I did the same thing for every Fashion Week, therefore instead of trying to predict upcoming trends like I did in my previous post about the NYFW, this time I will focus on the highlights. So here are the best shows London FW F/W 17/18 had to offer.

Watching all shows of the Fashion Week can be very overwhelming, with the amount of shows consumed in such a short time it can be hard to keep track of them all. The hard truth is that most shows are very forgettable and collections will seem like you've seen them already somewhere else. So therefore I present to you the ten shows that will stick with you, had new things to offer and are definitely worth watching.

1. Burberry

Burberry stole my heart this Fashion Week, the clothes where downright gorgeous. The Black & White mixed with some middle age styled collars and beautiful detailing, smoothly combines minimalism with opulence, which is my exact aesthetic. The show is a personal favourite of not only the London Fashion Week, but also the NYFW.

2. Simone Rocha

Take some victorian vibes, add completely
black florals, some fur and put it in a beautiful location and you get a phenomenal fashion show. Hats off to Simone Rocha!

3. Temperley London

Florals and Pastel in the F/W season? Unusual for sure. I personally found the shades of blue rather refreshing. Among all the dark, muted themed shows, you often lose track of who did what, so a show that swims against the stream will naturally stick with you.

4. Anya Hindmarch

Usually when you watch a show you are expecting to see the models walk down a straight line and thats pretty much it, Anya Hindmarch kept things interesting by changing that, the tilted catwalk not only switched things up in a fun way, it also allows a better 360° view of the outfits. The catwalk did however take away some attention of the clothes on display.

5. Mary Katrantzou

I felt like I was watching a dark fairy tale and not a fashion show, which is definitely a good thing. The show grabbed my attention and didn't let go of it.

6. Emilia Wickstead

Was it the flowing dresses, the transparent fabric, the florals, the silk, the colour selection or the glittery detailing? I can't decide. The show had me hooked and fascinated start to finish.

7. Erdem

I hold meticulous attention to detailing high, as it drastically changes wether a piece of clothing seems cheap or luxurious. Erdem fulfilled my every needs, with not only detail but also beautiful designs. Another favourite was the gold that was used for some of the pieces, gold was a rarity this year which is a pity, as it looked stunning.

8. Molly Goddard

I will be honest here, I did not have high hopes in Molly Goddard, however I have to say that I was completely blown away. The bright colours and the interesting designs were a sight to behold. I was also very fond of the tables, that way you had more time to look at the outfits and models.

9. Julien MacDonald

Well, what can I say, I am a huge sucker for excessive usage of glitter and Julien MacDonald delivered.

10. Roland Mouret

Mouret reworked five pieces of his first collection, a excellent way to celebrate his anniversary. The sophisticated elegance was once again made wearable by him. Also in comparison to other shows there was much more diversity in the choice of models, which is always a big plus when it comes to me.

That's all I got for now, I will post some more the following weeks, for the Paris Fashion Week and the Milan Fashion Week, which I am looking really forward to as they are my favourite two. I would really appreciate feedback on my posts as I am constantly trying to improve. Hopefully we'll see each other in my following posts.

NYFW F/W 17/18 : A quick guide to the upcoming trends

I am very excited about this post as I have never done a review of the fashion week and I totally got to feel like Miranda Priestly, so without further ado lets get to the trends that I think will be a big deal in the upcoming fall and winter seasons.

Long Coats
One thing I saw in almost every show I watched were the endlessly long coats. I absolutely loved them, they give you a menacing fierceness only a cape could top. But they are not only cool as heck they also allow the possibility of layering the clothes you wear underneath, therefore keeping you warm, making this trend not only nice to look at but also functional.

Jeans
Jeans on Jeans Is a risqué look, however Adam Selman proved that it can look good.

Big Sleeves
Oversized Tops have always been a cozy look that is commonly seen in the colder seasons, however what is only the sleeves are oversized? That question must have been in the head of a few designers as it is a look that I frequently saw on the catwalks of the NYFW and I love it! Anyone that has ever tried wearing a high wasted pant with an oversized top will know that the struggle is real. This way you can enjoy the cute look oversized tops give you without a felt 100 wrinkles around your waist.

Monochrome
There were plenty of colorful outfits however they were almost always styled in a monochrome fashion. The monochrome look has been big the past few years and it is here to stay. Even if you aren't a big fan of the look, you can't deny that it looks sleek and well put together. The trend also does work wonders on your Instagram theme.

Sheer
The sheer blouses were a big thing. The trend takes a lot of self confidence as it does make you feel very exposed. You don't have to go straight Calvin Klein and bare it all out, I recommend wearing a cute bralette underneath it. There is still a stigma around women who choose to wear it without anything underneath, which is a pity as it looks undeniably amazing.

Check Print
The check print was honestly everywhere, at first I didn't even notice it but once I did I couldn't stop seeing it. It was present in all colours and variations, but mainly in grey and on coats.

Embroidery and Florals
The floral patterns and floral embroidery was very popular in the spring and summer seasons, and it won't be going away anytime soon. Unlike in the S/S season the florals are in more dark and muted colors than the bright and pastel of the last season.

Velvet
If you have been enjoying the velvet lately it is your lucky day as it is still going to be relevant in the Fall and Winter 17/18.

Red
Red is the new black, except its not as black is always the new black. Red however is the new color of your accents. Especially on gloves and hats the red accentuates your outfits nicely. Just please for the love of god stop the red shoes that trend died in 2014 and it should stay that way.

Glitter
Glittery accents on otherwise matte outfits are a great way to be subtle about being extra. How does that sentence make sense, you might ask, well it just does. But seriously the glittery details were amazing and they do draw attention to an outfit, and since its not the entire outfit that is covered in sequins, it was still subtle. By the way I also saw outfits that were completely covered in sequins and it did look nice, but it can be hard to pull off.

Shine
If you just read the previous paragraph and thought to yourself, but I do want to blind every person that crosses my path, worry not because your needs were covered too this FW. Instead of Glitter however shiny jackets and coats will be your best friend.

Leather
Leather jackets are a kind of a no brainer when it comes to F/W but I still felt that it was worth mentioning it. Just please be kind to animals and use a faux version, I know the fashion gods are going to send me to fashion hell for promoting faux, however I do believe that we should worry about innocent animals that are just minding their own business and not murder them for fashion

So thats all I got, for now. We still got three more weeks of Fashion weeks to go, and therefore three more posts about it. But for now I will take a quick break, having watched 74 fashion shows of the fashion week, and about 40 more of pre fashion week for good measure my head is buzzing with flashy music. Hopefully you enjoyed this post. Wether you did or didn't I'd appreciate feedback, as I am still a novice blogger and I do want to provide better posts. Thanks and goodbye.
